Engineering! Art! This camp is at the crossroads of both. The drop-off program is $65 per day or $112 for both days. (Members pay $55 per day or $105 for both days) The camp runs Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th from 9:00 – Noon. Extend your stay until 2:00 pm for an extra $25 each day. Note: TinkerSpace is open for families to explore together both days from Noon – 5:00 pm. This camp is for kids ages 8 and up.
Over the two days, tinkerers will hone their design process skills with team challenges, engineering projects, and seasonal crafts.
Create-ure Challenge: Bring your imagination to life. We’ll look at real animal adaptations and see how they relate to their environment. Then tinkerers will create a brand new creature giving it features perfectly adapted to its environment, wherever that may be. Starting with modeling clay and our wealth of recycled materials, these creatures will be a treasure to take home.
Cardboard Automata. An automaton is something that moves through mechanical means. Tinkerers will explore cams (with followers) and linkages to get their creation moving.
Motorworks. Tinkerers will be given a battery, a small motor, and access to the TinkerStudio supply wall to design their own creation. Will it be a drawing-bot, a car, or a battle-bot? Only your child knows.
Kinetic Wind Sculptures. Keeping with the movement theme, tinkerers are challenged to create a sculpture that moves with the wind.
Sweater Pumpkins. Practice simple sewing skills and paper mache to make these fun Fall decorations.
Gingerbread House. Even in Southern California, we like a nice gingerbread house. These are made from paper and craft materials so we don’t need to worry about anyone taking a nibble.
Advent Calendar. Thanksgiving will soon be past and we’ll be on the countdown to the next big holiday. Whether that holiday is Christmas, Hanukkah, or another special occasion, your family will enjoy this calendar marking your progress to the big day.
