It is time to spread some love. Make old-fashioned valentine cards to say I Love You to your family, friends, and neighbors. The paper globes and paper heart door hangers can decorate your own space or be left as a special message on someone else’s door. Find places to leave these sweet polymer clay hearts to give a secret surprise for those you love.

• Valentines — In a time-honored tradition, sit down with scissors, paper, sequins, tissue paper, and so much more to make special cards for those around you. Make sure the one you give your Valentine is extra-special and made especially by you! Try out a new technique such as watercolor resist, quilling, or negative space. Or simply stay with the traditional glued on hearts. Will you write cutesy sayings or stick with “I Love You!”?
• Paper Globe — These beautiful paper pieces are deceptively easy but will make a HUGE impression on your Valentine. These make great Teacher Gifts as well. Drop it off at the school for your favorite!
• Paper Heart Door Hanger — Leave a surprise on your neighbor’s door early one morning. We can all use a dose of love. This technique can be adapted to make an easy, but striking, Valentines garland to decorate your home or home-school space!
• Polymer Clay Hearts –These trinkets can be attached to your valentines or left annonymously where you know someone will find them. Leave it on your neighbor’s newspaper when you go out for an early morning walk. Place it on a computer keyboard. Leave one on a park bench. Wherever they are found, they are sure to bring out a smile. Give yourself the satisfaction of leaving a “Random Act of Love.”

Cost:

The purchase price of the Valentine Deluxe TinkerKit is $25. Members may purchase the Valentine Deluxe TinkerKit at a discount of 40%. If you are a member that has transitioned to the monthly automatic payment method and you have not used your monthly $10 credit per child, please choose the $5 option.

Pick up your kits at TinkerSpace (no charge) or pay $8 flat rate for shipping anywhere in the United States. Note: If you are paying by credit card, there is a drop-down menu to choose shipping or in-store pick-up. If you are paying via PayPal you will need to click on the highlighted shipping charge to change it to in-store pick-up if that is your desire.

What craft supplies do I need to have?:

Your kit includes almost everything you will need. The Paper Globe works best with Scotch Tape and the Paper Heart Door Hangers are easiest to make with a stapler. Don’t worry! If you don’t have these on hand, we offer an alternative. You will need a pair of scissors, a pencil, a few colored markers, and a space to work.

All Take-Home TinkerKits have instructions. But, TinkerSpace has always been about communal making experiences. Everyone at TinkerSpace works on their own project while receiving guidance from TinkerSpace staff and inspiration from other people’s work, With our Virtual Open TinkerTime, we’ve taken this idea to the Zoom platform. Set up your computer (or other Zoom capable device) at a work table, gather your supplies, and make with a community. TinkerSpace staff and other participants of the TinkerTime are available to offer advice and guidance and you can be inspired by what others are making. We’ll be making Valentines on Saturday, January 30th @12:30 pm PST and on Saturday, Febrauary 6th @12:30 pm. Please register for one of these times.
