Take-Home TinkerKits (Members)
TinkerSpace may be closed due to the pandemic, but that doesn't mean you need to stop creating! We have put together kits of our more popular activities for you to pick up and work on in the comfort of your own home. Kits come with everything you need plus supplies for tinkering with the project. Pick up from TinkerSpace (Free) or have your kit mailed ($8 flat rate). Work alone or join us in a Virtual TinkerTime.

Turkey Placecards
| This papercraft is accessible for all ages. Use these to make your family celebration special. Make one to cheer up a neighbor. Send them to family members that cannot join you … it will make them feel a part of your celebration. Kit Includes: Paper (enough for 3-4 Turkeys), template, and glue. Cost: $7 [Non-Members: $10]. |
Polymer Clay Leaves
| These leaves are beautiful on their own or they can be added to a wreath, centerpiece, or gratitude tree. The techniques you learn in this project can be applied to so many more. Kit Includes: 1.5 oz polymer clay (enough for 2 leaves), dowel, parchment paper, leaf cookie cutter (shape varies), twine, toothpick, and craft sticks. Cost: $10 [Non-Members: $15]. |
Sweater Pumpkin
| Make one or go through your donate pile to see how many cute pumpkins you can make. This is an easy first sewing project, but it may take adult hand strength to keep the tension on your string. Kit Includes: felted sweater sleave, stuffing, tapestry needle, crochet thread, cardboard stem, brown construction paper, and paper mache glue. Cost: $10 [Non-Members: $15]. |
Woodland Creature Pennant Garland
| Add to the festivities with these adorable woodland creature faces. This project allows kids (and adults) to think about defining features of their favorite animals and design them as they wish. Kit Includes: Triangle Pennants (8), Paper Acorn pieces (7), extra cardstock, a sample sheet, and a glue stick. Cost: $10 [Non-Members: $15]. |
Wobble Bot
| Once you learn how to wire a circuit with a motor and a battery, your options are endless! Follow our video instructions to form your circuit. Join a Guided TinkerTime (when available) or any Open TinkerTime to get help with you Wobble Bot. With your motor slightly off-balance, your creation will wobble and move. Use this technique to make a fun creature or turn it into a drawing bot. Kit Includes: motor, battery, electrical tape, duct tape, copper brad, cup, 3 markers, and a piece of hot glue stick to create a wobble. Cost: $18 [Non-Members: $25]. |
Paper Infinity Cube
| Make your own fidget cube! Draw pictures or add designs. Our videos will help you assemble your own infinity cube. Kit contains: 8 paper cubes (flat), masking tape, coloring sheet, glue stick, access to instruction videos, and an instructions sheet. You will need markers, crayons, or colored pencils, and scissors. Cost: $7 (Non-Members: $10) |
Linkage Creature
| Have fun with Linkage Creatures. Fasten together cardboard rods to make a fun moving creature. Kit contains: 16 cardboard rods, 10 copper brads, masking tape, colored cardboard pieces, thin cardboard, and an instruction sheet. You will need scissors and (possibly) a stapler. Cost: $7 (Non-Members $10). |
Dixie Cup Droid
| A simple mechanism gives motion to your droid. Kit contains: two dixie cups, q-tip swab, foil, cardstock pieces, egg carton legs, and an instruction sheet. You will need scissors, markers, and glue. Cost: $4 (Non-Members: $6). |
Cardboard Tube Launcher
| Fling it far! Kit contains: 2 cardboard tubes, masking tape, 2 rubber bands, a pencil, yarn, colored cardstock, and an instruction sheet. You will need scissors. Price: $4 ($6 for non-members). |
Sock Donut
| Make your own plush donut! Fun for parties and pretend play. Kit contains: one sock, felt, decorative beads, tacky glue, and an instruction sheet. Cost: $5 (Non-Members: $8). |
Jack in the Box
| Fun with paper springs! Kit contains: cardstock box (flat), construction paper strips, glue stick, colored cardstock, googly eyes, a toothpick, and an instruction sheet. Price: $4 (Non-Members: $8) |
Butterfly Clothespin Automata
| Make a moving butterfly. Kit contains: 2 clothespins, colorful card, black card antennae, and white card anchors. You will need scissors and glue (school glue or tacky glue). Video instructions and summary instruction sheet. Price: $4 (Non-Members: $8) |
